The Book of Remembrance was researched, compiled, and published by Andrew J. Matta as a tribute and memorial to
his son, Andrew F. Matta. It was published by Gateway Press, Baltimore, MD. It is a beautiful 8 x 11 ½ soft
covered edition featuring every internment (over 10,000) in the cemetery; as well as genealogical and
biographical information on many of those individuals. It contains several other sections, including a history
of the garden cemetery and a selection of personal writings by individuals in memory of someone buried in the
cemetery. The collection of writings covers the profound subject of grief, cemeteries, death and spirituality.
It is a keepsake worth passing down to your children and grandchildren.
The book after first being sold at the Baber Day celebration August 31, 2008, is now in its second printing.
All proceeds from the book sales go directly to the Schuylkill Area Community Foundation for the benefit of
