Chapel

(1) Chapel lancet windows: The windows in the chapel are the original windows dating back to the 1860s. Many have been broken over the years by thrown rocks. To restore the stained glass on the perimeters of each window and to replace the three inner sections with clear glass, the cost will be $1300 per window. The work will be done by Leon Disarro, Minersville. The windows will not be done until at least two windows can be sponsored, removed and restored at the same time. One window on each side of the chapel will be removed to keep the restoration balanced. There are 16 windows in the chapel.
(2) Chapel Organ: Located in the balcony of the historic chapel is a historic pipe organ, a 1922 Austin Opus 1041. The two manual organ provided music to the community for over 85 before falling silent because of its need of repairs. The interior leather of the instruments and the inside workings of the console have to be completely replaced. A cost estimate from Patrick J. Murphy, Stowe, PA, places the repairs in excess of $50,000. In repairing the organ, it must be all or nothing, because the organ will still be inoperable if only partially repaired. Individual contributions in any amount are needed to fund this project.
